I feel is a bonus to the overall health of everyone.I talked to holistic periodontist Dr. Kayhan Civelek about the holistic approach to keeping gums and the jaw bone healthy and treatment when their are problems. He shared important information on the effects gum disease can have on one's entire body.  He shared what the signs of early gums disease are and how to take care of your gums by good

oral hygiene, brushing and flossing, the benefits of oil pulling, and the rule of a good diet and the avoidance of smoking, lots of sugar,too, much alcohol and too much acidity in the diet. He recommends dental implants when extraction of a tooth is unavoidable, the benefits include proper maintaining  proper facial structure especially the cheeks, proper bite, which add in proper chewing of food which is necessary for healthy digestion.  The new material zirconium he uses in dental implant is a safe material than the metal that has been traditionally used.We talked about the problems with amalgams for fillings and the danger to the body from mercury they contain.When I asked Dr.Civelek what he like most about his practice of periodontics, he replied that it is the joy he gets

from seeing his patients stay healthy and treating them with care over the years.

Dr. Kayhan Civelek graduated New York University with a DDS degree and Ohio State with an MS in Cell Biology.

After graduating from The Ohio State University with a Master of Science (MS) in oral biology and certificate in Periodontics, Dr. Civelek did dental implant fellowship at Brookdale Hospital Medical center. Upon finishing the program he started to teach as a full-time faculty at New York University College of Dentistry in Department of Comprehensive Care. He started his Private practice in 1999, since then he maintains periodontal practice focusing holistic treatment modalities and titanium and NON-METAL dental implants.
