Interview with Kathy McShane-Managing Director of Ladies Who Launch

I talked with Kathy McShane, Managing Director of Ladies Who Launch,Southwestern CT. Kathy shared her story with me of how she created her business of helping other women develop their business ventures. In our talk Kathy gave great insights to what women can do to grow and expand their businesses.
After going to an event of Ladies Who Launch, Ms. McShane decided to buy the franchise and start her own Connecticut chapter.

The interview will be broadcast on Cablevision Channel 88 on Tuesday Sept. 4th at 9:00pm and Thursday Sept. 6th at 5:30 pm and on for three more weeks on those days and times throughout the month of September.

Ms. Schoenfeldt and Ms. Colligan the founders of Ladies who Launch came from corporate businesess backgrounds. Ms Colligan started an online newsletter under the name Ladies Who Launch, that featured women 's success in their business ventures. Ms. Schoenfeldt had started a women's group that was a sort of a book-investment club The two met and launched a partnership and a the Ladies Who Launch franchise .

I attended one of Kathy's wonderful evenings, an event that featured Kirsten Von Ogtrop, editor in chief of Real Simple Magazine and author of Just Let Me Lie Down. It was a great talk and the elegant room was filled with interesting women
entrepreneurs ready to learn and support one another.

LWL is a national organization with branches in more than 50 cities in the U.S. and Canada dedicated to turning women into successful entrepreneurs. It provides support, training, financial and creative resources, and valuable connections to help women put their business ideas into action.
Ladies Who Launch in Connecticut has more than 300 women who take advantage of LWL resources to help execute their business plans and grow existing businesses.
More than a successful entrepreneur, Ms. McShane is a committed community leader. She serves on the board of directors of the Bank of New Canaan and  the Norwalk Hospital Foundation. She is also co-chair of Norwalk Hospital’s Circle of Caring. Additionally, she runs positive psychology workshops throughout Fairfield County and created the non-profit “Exceptional Woman Series,” a program to recognize women leaders in Fairfield County. She is an adjunct professor at New York University where she teaches Competitive Intelligence.

Interview with screenwriter Gigi New


GIGI NEW

I enjoyed my conversation with screenwriter, Gigi New, who talked about her career and her experience coaching celebrities like Garrison Keillor ~ A Prairie Home Companion.  Her positivity and optimistic approach to taking on creative challenges and marketing her work is a great example for writers wanting encouragement and inspiration. Her can do attitude is infectious. She provided good tips about the nuts and bolts of creating a good screenplay.
  The show was dedicated to Nora Ephron.

About Gigi New


Gigi was as an army brat who called Virginia home, graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a degree in Fine Arts, began her career in Chicago as an actress, then moved to Los Angeles, where she met her husband and discovered her love of writing. She has written over a dozen scripts, been staffed on sitcoms and developed material for several studios and independent producers. She began her career as an assistant on Everybody Loves Raymond. She went on to writing for the award wining Nickelodeon family series The Brothers Garcia. she has since worked for Gavin Polone (Curb Your Enthusiasm, Gilmore Girls), Wally Wallodarsky, and Maya Forbes (The Larry Sanders Show) on the FOX series The Ortega’s. More recently Gigi has written film scripts and developed material for Aqua Entertainment, Gunn Films, The Maya Entertainment, Avalanche Entertainment, and Underground Films. She is currently developing a television series and a feature, “Public Emily” .She also teaches screenwriting. Her students range from those who are new to writing and want to see their idea realized on the page, to seasoned professionals who need a fresh pair of eyes to critique their work.
